Have been listening a lot to U2 recently…
This clip is live from Chicago in 2005, and they play out the set with “40”. Originally from their War Album, “40” is based on Psalm 40, a Psalm of David, and is one of the best U2 songs ever.
The baseline is anointed. U2 at their best.
“40” (live from Chicago)
“Stay safe in the city of Chicgo
Beautiful city
Watch out for the traffic and grumpy drivers
I waited patiently for the Lord
He inclined and heard my cry
He lift me up out of the pit
Out of the miry clay
I will sing, sing a new song
I will sing, sing a new song
How long to sing this song
How long to sing this song
How long, how long, how long
How long to sing this song
He set my feet upon a rock
And made my footsteps firm
Many will see
Many will see and hear
I will sing, sing a new song
I will sing, sing a new song
I will sing, sing a new song
I will sing, sing a new song
How long to sing this song
How long to sing this song
How long, how long, how long
How long to sing this song
Special night for us, we put it on film
A good-looking city
This is for our Father ??
And for Notre Dame University
This is for you”
Enjoy!
U2 was a very innovative band when they came out. Seems like a lot of Christian groups copied their distinctive style afterward. Bono is a great songwriter.
