Penal Subsitutionary “Theory”, John Crowder

Moving Beyond an Angry God – John Crowder says it took him over a year of study and meditation to get over his idol of penal substitution doctrine.

But in this video, he boils his perspective into 20 minutes! Expounding on ideas from his book Cosmos Reborn, John offers a radically different view of atonement that challenges our western notion of an angry God.

Great video by a great teacher.  One of the best, most concise teachings on this topic that I have come across.  Enjoy.

  1. Amen. I’ve been blasting away at PSA for years. It’s a such a bad doctrine, full of contradictions, and creating major cognitive dissonance. But people look at you like you’re an alien when you point these things out. Hopefully (like with “Left Behind” eschatology), it will be laughable 50 years from now.
